Pre-Treatment Procedure

Preparation of the patient.

The patient is thoroughly examined.

Their Prakriti (basic constitution) and Vikriti (details of morbidity) are documented in detail.

Their disease is also examined.

The treatment line-up, materials, and medicines that need to be used are enlisted.

Materials For Kati Vasti

Taila (medicated oil), Ghee (medicated ghee) or both, suitable to the disease and patient are collected and stored beforehand.

The same medicines are used for conducting Abhyanga (massage) after the completion of Kati Basti procedure.

Flour of black gram (urid dhal).

Procedure of Kati Vasti

Patient is said to lie down in prone position.

A small ring is made in the lower back with black gram flour.

Oil is made warm and kept inside the ring for 10 min, again taken and heated and the same procedure repeated.
